Unveiling the truth: key evidence
Delve into the compelling evidence that challenges the conviction of Ray Gilbert. On this page, we lay bare the crucial details that speak volumes about a profound miscarriage of justice and Ray's unwavering fight for exoneration.

The unignorable physical evidence
Central to Ray Gilbert's case is the forensic evidence found at the crime scene. We highlight significant findings: DNA from the knots used to tie up the victim, a clear fingerprint on an envelope, and distinctive footprints left in blood from Wrangler footwear. Crucially, Wrangler shoes were not a common choice in Liverpool in 1981, and the shoe size did not match either of the two men arrested, raising serious questions about the real perpetrator.

Ray's background: what the records reveal
Beyond the immediate crime scene, Ray's personal history provides vital context. Records from childhood social services offer insights into his personality and vulnerability. These documents, alongside other pending psychological and vulnerability tests, are crucial in understanding Ray's character and challenging narratives presented during his trial.
One 'key' witness who described a scuffle in a doorway at 9.15am would later be found to have been looking at the wrong doorway!
The red arrow shows the location which is incorrect.
i would later speak to this witness on the phone who would describe his apprehension and worry about the case for forty plus years.
As a Cartoonist, he sketched his view from a bus. hr said the artwork wasn't in his style and that when he questioned the Police about it, they would say two officers had seen him sketch this! He was coerced and told what to say during an ID Parade too
if he didn't draw the sketch, who did?
